The Flavour

Crispy fried chicken coated in a sweet, tangy and mildly spicy sauce – the iconic Chinese-American classic.

About This DIsh

Created in Taiwan in 1952 by Chef Peng Changgui, General Tso’s Chicken didn’t gain immediate popularity in Asia but went on to become a global sensation after reaching the United States. Today, it stands as one of the most iconic Chinese-American dishes, beloved for its bold, balanced flavours.

The dish combines crispy fried chicken thighs with a sauce made from vinegar, sugar and soy, lifted by the gentle heat of sun-dried chillies. The result is sweet, tangy and just a little spicy — an irresistibly addictive harmony that has captured tastebuds around the world. Served fresh in Newcastle, it’s a must-try for fans of comfort food with a bold twist.
