About This DIsh

Born in Chengdu, the heart of Sichuan’s street food culture, red oil dumplings are one of the region’s most beloved snacks. Unlike the clear broth dumplings found elsewhere in China, these are all about bold flavours – silky dumplings tossed in a dressing of chilli oil, soy sauce, garlic and spices. The balance of heat, fragrance and umami makes them an unmistakable taste of Sichuan.

At Wok Manifesto, we honour this tradition with our own take: handmade dumplings plump with seasoned pork mince, drenched in our house-made crispy chilli oil and soy sauce, then finished with crushed peanuts, garlic and Sichuan spices. The result is juicy, savoury and deeply satisfying – a true Chengdu classic, served fresh in Newcastle.
